Nevada’s Brightest Students Get a Chance to THINK

University of Nevada, Reno and Davidson Institute Team Up to Offer
the Most Rigorous Summer Program Ever Available in the Silver State

RENO, Nev. (April 23, 2004) – Nevada’s brightest young people are being offered an opportunity that has never been available before in the Silver State.

The University of Nevada, Reno in collaboration with the Davidson Institute for Talent Development presents the 2004 THINK Summer Institute – the most rigorous summer program ever offered to students in
Nevada. This program is more than a simple summer school: It is a full-immersion academic experience where middle school and high school students can earn college credits for doing college coursework.

“Similar programs exist in other states, however, by creating a program as challenging and rewarding as THINK, we are taking a big step in establishing Nevada as a leader in education for high-achieving
students,” said Marie Capurro, director of the Davidson Institute.

To be eligible for the THINK Summer Institute, applicants must currently be enrolled in seventh, eighth or
ninth grade. Admission to THINK is the same as what is required of college freshmen.

THINK students can choose to enroll in either Journalism 101 or Chemistry 392 - Special Topics, and
every student will be enrolled in Japanese 111. All courses will be taught by university professors on the
UNR campus, and students will live on campus during the three-week program. Every student who
completes the program will receive seven transferable college credits.

The THINK Summer Institute will run from Sunday, July 11 through Saturday, July 31, 2004. The
application has been extended to May 21, 2004.
Tuition is $1,500 for the three-week program, and scholarships will be available based on financial need. To learn more about this program, please visit www.davidson-institute.org/think, e-mail think@ditd.org or call (775) 852-3483 ext. 430.
