Nevada’s Brightest Young Minds to Pursue Academic Interests at Inaugural THINK Summer Institute

July 11 – July 31, 2004 at University of Nevada, Reno

RENO, Nev. (July 6, 2004) – Nine of Nevada’s brightest students, ages 12-15, will join 11 other students from across the country as participants in the inaugural THINK Summer Institute, a program of the Davidson Institute for Talent Development hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) July 11 through July 31.

During the three weeks of THINK, these exceptional seventh, eighth and ninth graders will be in UNR’s residential college setting studying Chemistry, Journalism and Japanese while earning seven transferable college credits.  THINK is the most rigorous summer program ever offered to middle and high school students in the Silver State.

Bob and Jan Davidson, the founders of the Davidson Institute, are particularly interested in developing programs that will help Nevada become a desirable location for our nation’s brightest students and their parents – which has long-standing implications for both our local and state economies,” said Marie Capurro, M.Ed., director of the Davidson Institute, “The THINK Summer Institute is just the beginning of what we hope to accomplish.”
