The Davidson Academy of Nevada, a free public school for profoundly gifted students located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, is pleased to announce
its graduating class of 2012.
Twenty-two students will receive high school diplomas from The Davidson Academy this year. The 2012 graduates and their

Evans was named a Presidential Scholar, one of only 141 students
nationwide to receive this honor (http://www2.ed.gov/programs/psp/index.html).
Crognale, Ellison, Evans, Fidaleo, Hickox-Young, Otor, Vienneau, Williamson
are
National Merit Scholar finalists (http://www.nationalmerit.org/).
Otor was named a winner of the National Achievement Scholarship and a
finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Evans and Fidaleo were
also named the Nevada state winners of the 2011 Siemens Award for Advanced
Placement (AP).
Seven of the graduates, Crognale, Ellison,
Evans, Fidaleo, Hickox-Young, Kim and Vienneau, started at The Davidson Academy
during the school's first year in 2006.
A total of 41 students have now graduated from the Academy.
“This is the largest graduating class we have had to date,”
said Colleen Harsin, director of The Davidson Academy. "All
of the graduates are remarkable individuals who will be missed here
at the Academy. We wish them great success as they start this new
and exciting chapter of their lives."
In 1999, Bob and Jan Davidson founded the Davidson Institute for Talent Development, a national nonprofit located in Reno that supports our nation’s brightest young people. In 2004, the Davidsons co-authored, with Laura Vanderkam,
Genius Denied: How to Stop Wasting Our Brightest Young Minds, published by Simon & Schuster. In 2006, they founded The Davidson Academy of Nevada, located in the Jot Travis Building on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
